FAQ

Questions parents ask

Is Showbly really safe for young kids?

Yes. There is no camera, no account, no chat, no feed, no comments and no ads. Everything a child makes is stored only on your device. Showbly talks to the internet only to check a license key when you activate PRO — and, if a parent turns on My Circle, to run the private family space that parent controls.

Can my child post their video to YouTube?

Only if you do it. Showbly saves a normal video file to your device. Posting it anywhere is a separate step that a parent takes from their own account. Showbly never posts anything publicly; the optional My Circle shares a video only with the family viewers a parent invited, and only after that parent approved it.

What about the photo-face feature?

It's optional and under a parent's control: kids can put a real photo (their face, a sibling, the dog) inside a cartoon body. The photo is stored only on your device and appears in exported videos — review before sharing. It is off by default; a parent turns it on in the Parent Zone.

Which devices work?

Any modern browser: Chrome, Edge and Safari on iPad, iPhone, Android tablets and phones, Windows, Mac and Chromebooks. Add it to the home screen for a full-screen app that works offline.

Does my child need to read?

Mostly no. Every control is a picture, and show formats come pre-written so kids can start by swapping characters and stickers. Typing lines for Toon Talk is where readers shine.

Is Showbly really free?

Yes. During the beta everything is free: no payment, no credit card, no account. Later on, some advanced features may become paid — we will announce it in advance, nothing will be charged without a parent choosing it, and everything you have already made stays on your device.

Where do the music and sounds come from?

Showbly generates every sound and music loop itself — nothing is sampled or licensed, so videos never get copyright claims.
